Topic: new bill

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for giving me that gentle nudge.  You asked about the "Disability Savings Act of 2008" 

Here's what I know about the pending legislation.  I have talked to Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Senator John Cornyn's office.  Neither have an official position on this bill.  Senator Cornyn's office said they will have more information next week when the Senators are back in session.  I'll include several links in this response that may help you.

Senator Hutchison:  http://hutchison.senate.gov/  I used the "contact" link and called.  I expressed support for this act and requested the Senator's position.  The Senator has no position at this time.  I expressed support using CBDSA's name to show there was a group behind the support and not just an individual.

Senator Cornyn:  http://cornyn.senate.gov/public/  I used the "contact" link and called his office as well and said the same as I did for Senator Hutchison.  His office seemed more willing to talk.  I felt this call meant more than the call to Senator Hutchison.

Each Senator has multiple phone numbers listed.  I just went down the list until I got a person to answer.  I don't like leaving messages as I feel they don't carry the impact as a personnal call.  I'll call every day until I hear something firm from them as far as their support either for or against. 

I'll start contacting other people and groups within Texas tomorrow morning to garner as much organized support as I can.
