A new topic is a topic that hasn't been addressed in a category yet.
Let's say you'd like to brag about your child at school. It's very simple...
Click on the "Brags" category. Since this is the first post on this topic (remember, it's a brag about your child).
Click on "Start a topic" Then you can enter a subject (this is how others see what your post is about), then fill in the "post" or body of your message. If you decide you don't want your message in the "Brags" category, choose the category you want from the list in the lower left hand corner of your screen.
Click on "Submit post" and you're done.
